Tuesday Teasers

Miz B and Teaser Tuesdays asks you to:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
(p.32)....."Margaret thought she saw something of fright in the boy's eyes and made the statement again, this time in a slightly louder voice. An older and taller boy , muscled and fingering a baton, emerged from an unmarked doorway".

(Thank you Miriam Parker, Hachette Books Group for sending this book to me).

A Change in Altitude; Anita Shreve, hits book stores today.

  8. Is that Shreve's newest? I've not heard of it. Silly me.

Mine is from a memoir, "Replacement Child," by Judy Mandel, who is, literally, a replacement child for her sister who is killed. It shows, from a personal point of view, the long-term effects of a tragedy on a family, and follows her own coming of age and into adult life, including having her own child.

This is from page 134, set in 1968: (think rock and roll!):
"Music had also become a way for me to infiltrate the male dominated garage band scene. There was only room for one girl singer in a band, even if I was grudgingly included to sing the Jefferson Airplane or Janis Joplin tunes they wanted to play. I liked being the only girl in the room at rehearsals. I could imitate Grace Slick pretty well, but the growl of Janis was something that eluded me—and got me kicked out of a few groups.:

  12. P.S. I LOVE LOVE the colors of your blog and the header picture -- so soothing and restful. But that was probably your intent, right?
